Hi, I’m Ilinca. This is typically me: camera around my neck, wild hair in the wind and me trying to control it, but not really managing to. That happens also with other things in my life, of course, and it’s at the same time what attracts me to travel: part of it you’re in control of, another (bigger) part of it you’re not. You have to live with that. The best you can do is try to be prepared to some degree, and just let the rest flow. Go with it, be surprised, and enjoy the ride. Most of the time, amazing things happen. Sometimes also uncomfortable things happen and you have to deal with them, but that’s part of the ride.  And sometimes you get to places more beautiful than you ever imagined and you meet people who are friendlier than you ever imagined. To me, that’s worth the effort, and the few less pleasant moments, and some boring moments. It’s all part of the package, and I hope I manage to capture all that in the travel stories I tell here.

I’m a Romanian who has been living in Switzerland for 13 years, traveled to 4 continents and 33 countries (and counting!), and speaks 3 languages fluently and another 2 just barely.  I have a husband and a cat, an extended family which is very important to me, and good friends spread all over the world. My travel style is a combination of backpacking and sometimes (not often!) staying in upscale hotels and resorts. Sometimes it’s more adventurous, sometimes less, but what stays constant is that I have to keep moving, to keep seeing new places and meeting new people, and I’m extremely curious about everything around me. I like to see new places, but I also want to get to know the people living there, as much as possible when being there just temporarily. Some of my favorite trips so far have been to Tibet, Indonesia, Japan, Iceland… and many more places – it’s so difficult to pick favorites!

Welcome and I hope you enjoy it here! Get in touch and let me know what you think.
